Hello Nomae! Thank you for speaking with me today!
Tell us about your latest release!
I just released my first song in Spanish, Me Voy! It’s a fun pop song about leaving a toxic relationship and being much happier without that person. A bit of a female empowerment anthem, but in a quirky dance way. Oh and my first music video! Shot in Costa Rica with the family.
What was the creative process for it?
My producer, Ana Saucedo and I started with a reference track in mind and it grew from there. We often think of a couple lyrics and it becomes a more clear concept, then we write the lyrical story. She and I have both left bad relationships behind, so we combined our experiences. We ultimately want the listener to celebrate loving oneself.
Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
For this song we were listening to a lot of Bomba Estero. Camilo’s happy melodies influenced me a bit too! Latin pop is one of my happy places.
Who would be a dream collaboration for you?
Manu Chao
Do you have a piece of advice you carry with you that you like to pass on to other musicians?
Patience!!! Is what I’m learning, anyway. In the TikTok age, it feels like there’s such an anxious push to always be creating, and if you aren’t filling up a feed, you aren’t relevant. But that’s a big lie!! Every life experience informs the writing, the art of it all. Be patient, keep creating, make it sustainable with rest, and keep on going.
Any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for?
Next release is La Niebla! Think Spanish Billie Eilish. Out March 25!
Please let everyone know where they can keep up with you and your music!
