Deputy McQuaig of Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Team stops a vehicle with a tail light that’s out. Deputy McQuaig asks to search the car and the driver refuses. A backup deputy arrives and begins to discuss the man’s background. The driver states that he’s a former gang member and has a history of selling meth and other narcotics. During this conversation, the driver admits that he has a $20 bag of weed in the car. The deputies then detain the suspect and while searching his vehicle find a loaded gun and two magazines. The suspect starts to cry and says the only reason why he had a gun was to fight off people from the coronavirus to save his children. He’s very remorseful and is arrested for the gun which is a violation of his probation and is taken to jail.
