Big welcome to Bulat with NELA Records. We are so excited to talk with you. For those who dont know – what is NELA Records?
NELA Records is a Digital Music Marketing agency and content creation space rolled in to one. We are based in North East Los Angeles (hence NELA) and focus on running social media campaigns on Facebook/IG/YouTube etc. as well as other various artist services.
What do you think is the number one thing a new artist or any artist for that matter can do to stand out from others and make a difference in their career?
A new artist in my opinion is usually too focused on ‘making it’ ‘blowing up’ or being ‘discovered’. At the end of the day it’s quite simple, if you find a way to attract new listeners consistently and turning them into fans, you will have a successful music business. So the number one thing is switching focus to acquiring and engaging fans.
Tell us more about why and how you started NELA Records
When the pandemic started I suddenly had a lot of time. I decided to pour it into the music and actually market it properly. So I started learning about Spotify playlists first, which led me to Facebook ads for musicians and a light went off in my head! I was so excited and kinda sad that these tools were not around when I was 20.
Fast forward a couple of years, NELA is ready to serve the community of musicians of all genres from all over the world!
You are an artist yourself – so cool. Tell us a little about that.
For sure, I’ve always loved recording music. All I ever wanted to do was to sit in a studio and record my songs. I play guitars, piano, drums, I sing, record, mix and master my songs. You can find some of the music here: www.bulatmusic.com
It’s a blend of alternative rock with hints of folk, reggae and other world genres.
