Wildfire smoke drifting skyward may be driving the formation of cirrus clouds high in the atmosphereDoug Armand/Getty Images Smoke from wildfires now burning in North America may be seeding the formation of more cirrus clouds over Europe. More clouds could affect the amount of solar radiation trapped close to the earth’s surface, in what researchers say may be a new aspect of climate change. Cirrus clouds are the wispy strands often visible high in the sky. They form from accumulations of ice crystals in the frigid air near the stratosphere. Whether or not … Read The Full Article Here

The schematic of climate effects of future aerosol reductions for achieving carbon neutrality in China. Credit: Science China Press When China pursues the carbon neutrality goal and the long-term air quality target, aerosol reductions will cause temperature increase over eastern China and enhance precipitation over southern China. Black carbon (BC) emission reduction can effectively mitigate the warming effect caused by other aerosol emission reductions under carbon neutrality. As the largest developing country and a significant contributor to carbon dioxide (CO2), China has announced its ambitious climate commitment to pass carbon peak before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. A good sex toy should feel like an extension of your body. When you’re using it, you shouldn’t have to think about where the buttons are or how you’re holding it. It should just feel natural, intuitive. When you have to think about the buttons—or even worse, actually stop using the toy to have a second look at its controls—it takes you out of the moment. This is where the Satisfyer Pro 2 Gen 3 really shines. It gets out of your way.The Suck-tual RevolutionMost of us are familiar with vibrators, but suction toys are a whole different species of…

A UBC Okanagan researcher is cautioning that a person’s poor eating habits established during post-secondary studies can contribute to future health issues including obesity, respiratory illnesses and depression. Dr. Joan Bottorff, a Professor with UBCO’s School of Nursing, is one of several international researchers who published a multi-site study looking at the eating habits of university students. Almost 12,000 medical students from 31 universities in China participated in the study that aimed to determine the association between eating behaviours, obesity and various diseases. If there was a phrase that could summarize Warrior Season 3 Episode 4, it’s the common, almost cliché saying, “You play with fire, you get burnt.” Many characters played with fire, and when it burned them, the pain was nothing like they had ever experienced. The search for the fake money plates brought the cops to the doors of the Hop Wei, where they wasted no time in raining hell on the place. It led to an eventful night for Yan Mi as she crossed more than one boundary, many of which she had never envisioned herself crossing. Elsewhere, Mai Ling’s…

Earth’s axis has shifted due to human activityShutterstock / Fisherss Over the course of about two decades, humans pumped enough water out of the ground that we shifted Earth’s poles by almost a metre. This is equivalent to the polar drift caused by melting Greenland ice over the same period. “Most people would go about their lives and wouldn’t be aware of [Earth’s] wobbles or the drift,” says Clark Wilson at the University of Texas at Austin. He and his colleagues modelled how changes in the distribution of water around the planet have affected the drifting of the poles. Some…

Earth’s solid inner core may not be solid after all — at least not all the way through. Instead, it’s a hodgepodge patchwork of solid and liquid that reaches all the way to the center.New research based on the faint echoes of earthquake waves bouncing back to Earth’s surface from the depths of the planet suggests that the inner core is more varied than previously appreciated. The findings indicate that the inner core, which grows about a millimeter (0.04 inch) each year as the liquid outer core solidifies, may have grown faster during earlier times in Earth’s history. What’s more,…

When a fashion brand sees a spike in popularity (or, let’s be honest, goes big on its paid advertising), it’s usually quite obvious. It typically starts out on the feeds of industry heavy hitters before trickling down the sartorial food chain, and before you know it, you can’t scroll through Instagram without seeing an *insert buzzy It brand* buy. But every now and then, a name comes along that manages to work its way into the wardrobes of the fashion elite without a song and dance. This season, it was all about Raey.
