Pantera have been inviting special guests to sing their classic song “Walk” with them during their current North American tour, and at this past Thursday’s show they were joined onstage by Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe and late guitarist Dimebag Darrell’s longtime girlfriend Rita Haney.
Video footage from the concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas, shows the revamped Pantera lineup first being joined by Blythe, with Haney quickly following. The two share the mic for the song’s iconic chorus, with frontman Philip Anselmo putting his arm around them.
Lamb of God are supporting Pantera on the North American tour, and Blythe is a longtime friend of the band, so it wasn’t a big surprise seeing him onstage.
The relationship between Haney and Anselmo, however, is much more complex, as Dimebag’s camp long feuded with Anselmo for menacing comments he made about the guitarist in an interview shortly before Dime was tragically slain onstage in December 2004. And while Haney and Anselmo pretty much buried the hatchet years ago, the two singing the band’s signature song onstage together certainly appeared as a full reconciliation.
Pantera — whose current lineup includes classic member Anselmo and Rex Brown alongside Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante — continue their North American tour through a September 15th show in Bristow, Virginia. They are also supporting Metallica on select dates through November.
