How would you classify your music?
I would definitely classify my music as energetic, passionate and melodic.
Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?
I would have to say my top five musical influences are: The Beatles, Chris Cornell, Chris Stapleton, Nino Bravo.
What do you want fans to take from your music?
I want them to feel empowered and emotionally aware.
How’s the music scene in your locale?
There is no music scene around here unless you’re a cover band or an incoming touring band playing locally. Club owners want everything for nothing. It’s not like it was back in the day where there was amazing competition and the level of the showmanship was at in Apex.
When did you know you were destined for music?
I’ve just loved music since I was a kid. Fortunately for me, my parents exposed me to a large pallet of different genres and once I got behind the drum kit at the age of 13, the rest was history.
What is the best concert you have been to? What do you like most about playing live?
I was fortunate enough to see AC/DC on the Back In Black Tour and nothing has ever even compared to that. The energy, the sound, the ambience was just beyond reproach.
Is there a song on your latest CD release here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?
I would definitely have to say “Breakaway” because it was one of those songs that was shelved for over a decade and I honestly felt that was a great song but needed to wait for the right time to release. It felt so gratifying when I finally heard it done the way that I truly wanted to hear it musically.
How have you evolved as an artist over the last year?
I feel that I have evolved as a more strategic planner of content and learning the marketing and business side from my top rated podcast. The guests who I have interviewed have afforded me voluminous amounts of information that I have definitely implemented in my own career. I also use this knowledge to assist other artists with their growth as well, which is extremely gratifying.
If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
That’s actually an easy question –Paul McCartney hands-down. John Lennon was always my biggest idol but unfortunately we lost him way too soon… but Paul having partnered up with John all his life is the closest thing that I can get to understanding John’s thinking and writing style. Of course Paul has his own genius and many people compared me to John with respect to my messages of love and peace, so the opportunity to write a song with Paul would be a miracle. I do believe that will happen sooner than later.
What’s next for you?
I just live in the moment, meditate constantly to quiet my mind, and hopefully the universe will throw me breadcrumbs to let me know where the next path will lead to. I don’t focus on any end results or the illusion of relying on my senses to dictate my future. I try to focus on heart and mind coherence and attach positive emotions to better predict a future of abundance and happiness.
