Exclusive Interview with Makes My Blood Dance

master mentalism tricks

Makes My Blood Dance can not seem to sit still. Single after single, live show after killer live show, they’ve made a name splicing and mutating the genes of metal with disco, glam, and electropop.

Interview with Lead singer Evan Russell Saffer

You always level up when it comes to your career! Please tell us how you continue to do that with this upcoming tour!

I always tell John that if you don’t keep creating, if you take a long enough break, the whole thing just comes to a stop. Touring inevitably makes you a better player, a better band and works out a lot of the real life obstacles that come with being in a professional band.  Makes My Blood Dance heading out on the Lightning & Thunder Tour Leg 2 with Cedars (TX) and a whole slew of local and regional artists between Thanksgiving 2022 and Xmas.

Are you on cloud 9 when you get to perform for your fans and you get to hear your fans feedback immediately?

All that is a rush fo’ sho’. I was talking to Filia just now and yes, fans are a big part of it, but we also really love playing together.  When you are in a working band, the amount of time on stage vs the amount of time working together on projects is not at all equal.  You have to like each other, to communicate well, to focus on strengths and transcend shortcomings with patience and love.  It’s a trip.

Are you present to enjoy all the fruits of your labor or are you on to your next tour?

Good question.  I spent a lot of time in my early career always thinking about the next thing, being bigger than we were and I missed out on enjoying the moment.  I’m very happy with what we are doing and also seeing growth at the shows and online.  The tour hits the road Nov 28.  In early 2023 MMBM will be recording with producer Mikal Blue (Colbie Caillat, One Republic)  in Los Angeles for our next release. We have already started pre production virtually and it’s such a good vibe.  Very excited to work with Mikal and we will be there for most of Feb.  There is also another US tour coming together for April 2023.

Taking on all that you do as an artist, what has been the most exciting part of getting to tour?

Um…..getting to tour with my band, meet other bands, hear what is happening in each scene in different cities, make new friends.  Awesome.

As you rise in your career, and level up with your new music. What is keeping you grounded?

I think for John and myself it’s our higher power.  We are a very spiritual duo and stay away from alcohol.  That really makes a difference, keeps you in your real self and gives you superpowers to be the best version of ourselves.  John is praying constantly.  Filia and I do yoga.  That’s all good stuff to help us stay healthy.

Where and how do we get to continue to support all that you do?

Follow Makes My Blood Dance on Bands in Town for show notifications and any social media platform you prefer.  We put a lot into our music videos as well, Together Apart is the latest release with some incredible choreography by Ali Stevens.  We will be releasing a lyric video for single Heaven Collides, mixed by Dave Ogilvie (NIN, Skinny Puppy) in early 2023.

Please lend us some insight to what you want fans to take from your journey so far as a musician and what it means to you as they continue to support your music?

Be a giver, be open and avoid the hate.  Accomplishments are not the goal, how much you expand in the process is.

Please also give us all your tour dates! Thank you!
