Celine Dion has denounced the use of her song “My Heart Will Go On” by Donald Trump during a president campaign rally in Montana on Friday night.
“In no way is this use authorized and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use,” noted a statement released on Saturday.
Dion concluded her statement by questioning the wisdom of the song choice, given that it famously soundtracks James Cameron’s Titanic, a movie about a sinking ship. “…And really, THAT song?” she remarked. Perhaps Trump is resigned to his fate in a head-to-head matchup against Kamala Harris.
Last month, Dion her live comeback, performing Edith Piaf’s “L’Hymne à l’amour” at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The singer has faced a series of health challenges in recent years due to her ongoing battle with stiff-person syndrome.
Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing “My Heart Will Go On” at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign… pic.twitter.com/28CYLFvgER
