Botch have released a new song—their first in 20 years. “One Twenty Two” is set to appear on a new reissue of the band’s 1999 sophomore album We Are the Romans, which arrives November 4 via Sargent House. The band has also shared a new music video for “One Twenty Two.” Directed by Dimitri Luedemann, the visual finds the band performing live in a practice space with dramatic cuts and lighting effects that capture the song’s intensity. Check it out below.

In a statement, guitarist David Knudson said that the song was written while he was working on solo material:

During COVID, I was writing my debut solo LP, and mentally, I was sick of everything in quarantine. Lots of frustration had set in at home, and I figured the best way to deal with it was to write something heavy. I had no intention of writing anything for Botch, but when I was thinking of a singer to collaborate with, I thought, “Hey, I know the best hardcore singer ever to do it,” so I hit up [Botch vocalist Dave Verellen]. He was super excited and so it just kind of snowballed from there. There was never any intent or conversation about getting back together or writing. It just happened so naturally and was a great release for all of us to make it happen without any of the traditional pressure an “active” band faces.

Botch released two studio albums—American Nervoso and We Are the Romans—during their nine-year run, as well as a post-breakup live album called 061502. Following their split in 2002, members from the band went on to form numerous groups across the Pacific Northwest, including Minus the Bear, Russian Circles, and These Arms Are Snakes.
