A Timeline of the Beef Between Oasis’ Noel + Liam Gallagher

It feels like for as long as Oasis‘ Gallagher brothers have been in our lives, they’ve also been bickering. It was so much so that the in-fighting between Liam and Noel Gallagher at times overshadowed the great music the siblings were cranking out with their band. And at one point it got to be too much for Noel Gallagher to deal with anymore, and he decided to remove himself from the Oasis equation.

Their internal and sometimes external squabbles made headlines pretty much throughout their run as a band, and though they’re no longer in a group together, the jabs may have only intensified through the use of social media.

When they weren’t bickering with each other, the brothers often had a few choice words for some of their peers, but it was their struggle with one another that ultimately split Oasis.

Both brothers have gone on to find success. Noel immediately started up Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, while Liam continued with Oasis’ remaining bandmates through two Beady Eye albums before going solo himself. But nothing has matched the immense success that Oasis achieved at the height of their fame.

It looked like a reunion might never come with the siblings jabbing each other in interviews and on social media, but a late 2023 calm seems to have given way to a 2024 peace with the brothers announcing plans to play reunion shows in 2025.

During their heyday, the numbers were staggering. Oasis’ (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? became one of the biggest selling albums of all-time, topping all other ’90s entries in the U.K. and becoming the country’s fifth best-selling album ever. The group held the record for the biggest audience ever with two sold-out nights of 125,000 people at Knebworth. They had three platinum albums in the U.S., won a wealth of NME, Brit, MTV Europe and Q awards and had a pair of Grammy nominations. But throughout that success was some infighting that led to their downfall.
