The Young and the Restless’ Jermaine Rivers confirms Damian is dead, says it was an ‘honor’
Rivers recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a video message, where he confirmed that it’s the end of the line for Damian’s story. He said, “Damian Kane has met an untimely demise. We shot this back in May, and I actually knew about Damian Kane’s… what his fate was before we even went to France [within the storyline].”
He also expressed gratitude to the showrunners for allowing him to return as Damian and explore more of the character’s journey during his time on the show.
“It has been an amazing ride. It’s been an honor to not only be a part of the cast but to bring a character like Damian to life. The last seven, eight months, I got to play a multitude of emotions to really flesh out who this person was, with all his complexities, with his relationship with his mom, with his half brother, his best friend, and potential love interest. And we got to go on a ride and really play into these moments truthfully,” he added.
He acknowledged that although his character didn’t make a good impression at first, his aim as an actor has always been to fulfill three primary objectives: support the script, stay true to his character’s storyline, and honor his relationships with others. After thanking the show for the opportunity, he expressed appreciation to fans for their continued love and support throughout his time on the show.
