Peter Alexander Confirms New Role After NBC News Exit From Today Show

A major career shift is underway for Peter Alexander in American broadcast journalism. After stepping away from his long-running role at NBC News, a new chapter is already locked in, with a fresh position confirmed.

Peter Alexander announces he’s joining MS NOW

It seems Peter Alexander will not be staying off-screen for long. Just days after confirming his NBC exit, the veteran anchor has officially signed on with MS NOW. He will take charge of the network’s weekday 11 a.m. slot while also stepping in as chief national reporter and a breaking news anchor.

The move gives Alexander a more defined anchor role. MS NOW leadership praised his range, noting his ability to handle politics, lifestyle, and fast-moving news without missing a beat.

Rebecca Kutler, president of MS NOW, highlighted his achievements in a staff memo. She wrote that he has built a name through “professionalism, intrepid reporting, and sharp questioning of presidents of both parties.” She also emphasized his connection with viewers, especially during his time co-anchoring weekend broadcasts. “He brought compassion and humanity to the weekends, building a connection with viewers, all while leading the network’s White House coverage,” Kutler wrote.

The anchor also confirmed the update on Instagram, writing, “I’m thrilled to join the outstanding team at MS NOW, including many of the award-winning reporters nd anchors I’ve worked with over the last two decades… I’ll see you on weekdays at 11 a.m., beginning soon.”

Peter Alexander brings decades of experience to the role. He spent more than 20 years at NBC News, including 15 years covering the White House. He joined NBC in 2004, reported on major national and international events, and later served as co-chief White House correspondent with Kristen Welker. In 2018, he also took on weekend hosting duties for Today, balancing both roles effectively.

Now, with MS NOW expanding its news lineup, Alexander’s arrival signals a clear push toward stronger hard-news coverage.
