Tubi has released the first Stepfather trailer for the upcoming thriller starring Taye Diggs. In it, he plays a mysterious man with a dark secret while trying to provide for his new family.
“After years of eradicating any family that falls short of perfection, Darnell (Taye Diggs) believes his new wife Asia (Tamar Braxton) and her daughters might finally be the real deal. That is, until tensions rise and they uncover his deadly pattern. Now, getting rid of them won’t be as easy as he planned,” reads the film’s official synopsis.

What happens in the Stepfather trailer?
The trailer follows the story of Darnell, a man who recently entered into a relationship with Asia and her family. Despite his surface-level love and kindness for the family, however, Darnell is hiding a dark past. The trailer reveals he is actually a wanted man, known for preying on widows and their family, and his new family begins to learn this as he unravels around them.
Alongside Diggs and Braxton, Stepfather also stars Kalani Jules (Find Me in the Void), Jessica Jarrell (Hijacked), Janeline Hayes (Girl’s Trip), Dante Brown (Dash and Lily), Troy Brookins (Stargirl), TJ Shaw (Babysplitters), Koda Kalani Beschen (Chemical Sundown), and Elizabeth Dantus (The Sweetest Heir).
The movie is directed by Chris Stokes. For Diggs, it’s his latest role since 2025’s Both Eyes Open, although he has lent his voice to several roles in recent years, including in the animated series RoboGobo.
