Amazon Studios has revealed the official trailer for its upcoming film adaptation of My Best Friend’s Exorcism, based on Grady Hendrix’s horror novel of the same name. It is scheduled to make its debut on September 30, exclusively on Prime Video
The My Best Friend’s Exorcism trailer features inseparable friends Abby and Gretchen whose trip to the lake turns into a complete nightmare after exploring an abandoned building rumored to be a place where a girl was sacrificed in a satanic ritual. As Gretchen gets possessed by a demon, Abby will do everything it takes to get her best friend back.

My Best Friend’s Exorcism is directed by long-time TV director Damon Thomas, who’s making his feature-length directorial debut after two decades of only directing TV films and episodes. It stars Golden Globe nominee Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), Amiah Miller (War for the Planet of the Apes), Christopher Lowell (How I Met Your Father), Cathy Ang, Rachel Ogechi, and Cynthia Evans.
“The year is 1988. High school sophomores Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fourth grade,” reads the synopsis. “But after an evening of skinny-dipping goes disastrously wrong, Gretchen begins to act…different. She’s moody. She’s irritable. And bizarre incidents keep happening whenever she’s nearby. Abby’s investigation leads her to some startling discoveries—and by the time their story reaches its terrifying conclusion, the fate of Abby and Gretchen will be determined by a single question: Is their friendship powerful enough to beat the devil?”
