Peacock has released the first Crystal Lake trailer. It gives an unsettling first look at Linda Cardellini. The footage sets up a mystery around Jason Voorhees’ mother and the tragedy that changed her life.
The series takes place before the events of the original Friday the 13th movie. It follows Pam as she deals with the loss of her young son while a disturbing investigation begins to expose parts of her past.

What happens in the Crystal Lake trailer?
According to the trailer, the plot is set in 1971, which is nearly a year after young Jason drowns in Crystal Lake. It shows Pam struggling with grief while life in the town appears peaceful on the surface. However, tense encounters, disturbing images, and flashes of violence suggest darker events are taking shape.
Two strangers soon arrive and begin asking questions about Pam’s past. Their investigation turns locals suspicious. The story then moves from a mother’s grief toward the events that will shape one of horror’s most infamous legacies.
The Crystal Lake trailer introduces the series as a prequel to the original Friday the 13th movie. Linda Cardellini plays Pam, while Callum Vinson portrays a young Jason Voorhees. Brad Caleb Kane created the series and serves as its writer and showrunner.
The original Friday the 13th arrived in 1980 and revealed Pam as the killer behind the camp murders. She was driven by grief after Jason’s drowning years earlier. Crystal Lake goes further back, exploring Pam’s life before that story unfolds and giving more attention to her relationship with Jason.
The new series also expands the town with familiar and new characters. William Catlett plays Officer Levon Brooks, while Devin Kessler portrays his journalist sister, Brianna. Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom also join the main cast, while the series brings back characters connected to the original film.
Crystal Lake consists of eight episodes and will stream on Peacock on October 15, 2026. A24 produces the series. Michael Lennox, Celine Held, Logan George, and Quyen Tran direct the episodes. The series will explore Pam’s psychological unraveling while expanding the story behind the Friday the 13th mythology.
