Simone Biles paid tribute to her fiancé, Jonathan Owens, in a handmade “Owens” jersey at his most recent football game on Oct. 3. As the Houston Texans safety joined his team in facing off against the Buffalo Bills on Monday, Biles watched from the sidelines in a custom T-shirt with her husband-to-be‘s surname written across the back. “My favorite day of the week: game day,” Biles captioned a photo of herself in the jersey, which she wore as she cheered Owens on from the Astroturf in front of an energized crowd.
From the front, Biles’s stylishly tattered top — which appears to have been pieced together using scraps of cloth from various shirts — reads “Houston Texans” and features Owens’s jersey number, 36, in red, white, and navy lettering. Like a page in a love-worn scrapbook, the back of the jersey reveals the number 36 again, this time above Owens’s last name. The sleeves also feature white ties on either side.
As a final touch, red and navy tassels dangle from the back of Biles’s shirt to her knees, a subtle nod to Texas’s classic Western aesthetic. Biles styled the T-shirt with a pair of raw-hemmed denim shorts, ivory pointed-toe booties, stud earrings, and a silver chain-link bracelet.
It’s unclear how long it took to make the custom jersey, but the finished product is just more proof that Biles is Owens’s number one cheerleader — and that he’s hers.
