What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Bones Below?
It’s the continuing story of Lindy Larsen. The first book in the series, Silver Buckles, began as a short story I wrote back in the Seventies when I lived in Alberta and attended lots of small town rodeos. No computers then, so decades later I entered all my stories into my computer manually. Silver Buckles and a couple of others took on lives of their own. Silver Buckles spawned After The Dance, Katawasis Girls, and now The Bones Below. Each can work as a stand alone story. Protagonist Lindy Larsen is still talking to me so her story will continue.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of The Bones Below, what would they be?
Lindy: Both Sides Now. K.C.: Desperado
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Thrillers and murder mysteries are my favorite to read. Silver Buckles isn’t either of those, but when I started writing After The Dance, it went in that direction. Looks like that’s about all I write now.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
I’m reading Kevin Partner’s Nightfall series, The Joining by Frank Talaber, Wired Hard by Toby Neal, and Surprise, Surprise! by Mike Faricy.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
K.C. and Lindy in bed, with K.C. telling Lindy how he thinks her grandmother’s pendant could have wound up on one of the murder victims.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
Don’t think so. I just make it a point to write every day.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” –Goethe
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
That the characters are relatable.
