Interview with Peter Davidson, Author of The Dish Dog

master mentalism tricks

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Dish Dog?

I am intrigued by simple errors that criminals make that trip them up and get them caught. I wanted to create a unique criminal plot that readers, especially those who enjoy financial crimes, would find interesting.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I like to read legal thrillers.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

As I Saw It by Keith Wells.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

In the first scene where the perpetrator of the stock market insider scheme was introduced, it says that “with his oversized dark sunglasses on an overcast day, his ball cap pulled low over his face, and his jacket collar pulled up to hide half of his face, he would have looked suspicious in any other town or city in America, but in eclectic New York City, where two-thirds of the people on the street look suspicious, he fit right in.”

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I normally think about the manuscript as I fall asleep and my subconscious mulls it over during the night. In the morning, the next scene is normally crystal clear in my mind. I imagine all writers do this.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

I try to treat others the way that I’d want them to treat me.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That it was a well-written, enjoyable read, worth their time.
