“Sheriff Country” and “Fire Country” are teaming up to tackle a major case, and per franchise star Matt Lauria, the first-ever crossover will be monumental.

Friday’s event will begin with “Sheriff Country” at 8/7c, where a “mysterious school bus explosion leaves nine students missing,” per the official logline. “Sheriff Mickey Fox and Cal Fire Division Chief Sharon Leone must set aside their personal conflicts and unite their departments to try and crack the case.”

“Fire Country” will follow at 9 p.m. with Part 2 of the crossover: “With the clock ticking and the fate of nine missing students on the line, firefighter Bode Leone and Deputy Nathan Boone must risk it all in order to save innocent lives,” the logline reads.

Keep scrolling to see what Lauria, who plays Boone in the CBS procedural, can tease about what’s in store for the town of Edgewater — and how his character will respond to the catastrophe.

Just when you think Edgewater may have finally begun to heal after that violent siege at the sheriff’s office — another unbelievable event is set to plague this small town.

We know the crossover gets underway with a mysterious bus explosion — and it won’t be a simple open-and-shut case. With missing children on the line, Matt Lauria describes the case of the week as an “epic incident” that calls for the cooperation of both “Fire Country” and “Sheriff Country” crew.

“It demands the best of what they have to offer,” he adds. “It’s a situation of true peril and extremity.”

And that peril is layered: As Edgewater faces a community-wide emergency, Lauria’s Boone will be put to the test in a unique way.

“Unexpectedly, it ends up requiring a lot more of Boone, personally,” Lauria shares. At the end of the two-hour event, Lauria says Boone comes out a “different guy on the other side.”

Are you looking forward to the first crossover between “Sheriff Country” and “Fire Country”? And what are your predictions for the major incident ahead? Sound off in the comments!
