New Voting Rules & Live Show Schedule

New Voting Rules & Live Show Schedule

    Queen Latifah on The Voice
    NBC

Big changes are coming to “The Voice” in Season 30, and we’re not just talking about the refreshed coaching lineup, which now includes first-timers Queen Latifah and Riley Green.

Ahead of the show’s return on Monday, September 21 (8/7c), NBC has announced several shake-ups to its usual format, including a Blind Auditions twist, new voting methods, and something being referred to as “the biggest elimination in ‘Voice’ history.”

The first thing you should know is that “The Voice” Season 30 will include six weeks of live shows, all of which will be simulcast on NBC and Peacock in all time zones. Because results are being announced on the same night, only votes placed during the original east coast broadcast will be counted — so non-east coasters will definitely want to keep an eye on that stream.

Speaking of voting, viewers now have two ways to vote for their singers of choice. The first is by texting the name of the artist to a code that will be shared during the broadcast; you can vote for multiple singers, but you have to send each text individually. The second is via social media, and it’s a little more complicated. “The Voice” will have a pinned post with all eligible contestants on its official TikTok account, where you can leave a comment with the name of the artist you’re voting for. Again, you can vote for multiple contestants, but each name needs to be left as a separate comment.

Now that we’ve gotten the new voting rules out of the way, read on to find out about the changes coming to the actual show in Season 30.

More changes coming to The Voice in Season 30

Kelly Clarkson, Riley Green, Queen Latifah, and Adam Levine on The Voice
    NBC

“The Voice” is throwing a fun wrench into the Season 30 Blind Auditions, introducing something called the “First-In Button.” During a multi-chair turn, the coach who turned first can hit this button to claim a contestant before the contestant gets a chance to choose for themself. According to NBC, the button can only be used once, making it even more of a thing.

Season 30 will also introduce “Cut Week,” which NBC is dubbing “the biggest elimination in ‘Voice’ history.” During this segment, each coach will send two of their artists through to the live shows, while five more will have to face off for the final remaining spot on their team. This will solidify the Top 12 ahead of the live shows, while viewers will be able to vote one additional contestant into the Top 13.

And because everybody loves a cohesive concept, “The Voice” is basing its live shows around weekly themes, including Dolly Parton Tribute Week, Y2K, and TikTok.

“The Voice” Season 30 — with coaches Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green — begins Monday, September 21 (8/7c) with a two-hour premiere. The three-night event continues with hour-long episodes on Tuesday and Wednesday in the same time slot.

How do you feel about all of these changes coming to “The Voice”? Are you excited to see how Latifah and Green do as judges? Drop a comment with your thoughts on all things Season 30 below.
