March 2, 1998, serves as the debut of the Cartoon Network Powerhouse, which was widely considered the network’s best era due to its slate of original content at the time.

With the transition from the Checkerboard and Starburst eras to the Powerhouse era, the network began to feature original series more prominently. This includes iconic shows like Dexter’s Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, and Ed, Edd, n Eddy, among many others.

Many of these shows started through their animated series What a Cartoon!, which showcased various pilot animations that would get greenlit if well-received. This is where many of the aforementioned shows initially aired, catapulting the careers of up-and-coming animators like Craig McCracken, Genndy Tartakovsky, and Van Partible.

We rank 13 of the best classic Cartoon Network Originals from the Powerhouse era in the list below. Do you agree or disagree with our ranking? Let us know in the comments.
