Best Laptop Deals

You may have come here looking for an outright bargain, but these are decent deals on some more luxe machines.

Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360

The Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 got a middling score in our review (6/10, WIRED Review) but it’s much more appealing at this discounted price. For $950, you get one of the best designed 2-in-1 devices around—one that actually feels usable in tablet mode. There’s an AMOLED 15.6-inch display, which is crisp and colorful, alongside great performance for productivity tasks and strong battery life. The trackpad isn’t our favorite though.

It has dipped to $1,049 before but this is still a good price on Apple’s newest MacBook (7/10, WIRED Recommends). The screen is slightly bigger, there’s a fresh new design, and the webcam has been upgraded to 1080p. You also get pretty good performance for everyday tasks, and Apple has brought back the MagSafe charging connector, so your laptop won’t fly off the desk if you trip over the cable.

Want a massive screen for your laptop? You’ll be hard-pressed to find another machine that offers this in such a lightweight and svelte package. It delivers good performance with the 12th-gen Intel Core i7 chipset too. Read more about it in our Best Laptops guide.

Best Laptop Accessory Deals

Working on the sofa is all well and good, but there’s plenty of room to make your work-from-home setup more comfortable and simply better. Here are a few deals on top accessories, from monitors for a second screen to a quality webcam for Zoom meetings.

Razer Kiyo X webcam

The Kiyo X is the best webcam for most people, as per our guide. The automatic white balance and color saturation help present you in clear fashion with little effort on your part. The Razer Synapse app allows you to tweak camera settings pretty easily, and it’s cheap too.

Another working-from-home favorite of ours, this straightforward BenQ monitor offers a 1080p resolution, a well-sized screen, and a surprisingly pleasing color for its low price. It can be VESA-mounted as well if you prefer to ditch the stand.

We like this small USB-C hub as it manages to cram in a 4K HDMI port, USB-A, 85-W USB-C (for passthrough charging or data transfer), and a headphone jack—all in a delightfully portable package. It’s a great pick for the hybrid worker that frequents the office but also works from home.

Best Budget Laptop Deals

Cheap laptops come in many forms, from budget Chromebooks to kid-friendly, entry-level Windows laptops, all for $700 or less. You can find more of our favorite cheap laptops here.

One of our favorite cheap laptops, the HP Pavilion x360 14 is a reasonably priced device that looks great. Along with its 360-hinge, there’s an Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a 256-GB SSD. For just over $600, you also get a Full HD IPS display and what our reviewer called a “very nice keyboard.”

The Asus VivoBook was long the top pick in the WIRED UK best budget laptops guide, and this model offers similar quality but with an Intel chip replacing an AMD. There are strong productivity specs, including a well-sized 512-GB SSD, and that’s alongside a stylish metal body. This has the more significant discount, but the 14-inch model is also on sale for $632 ($98 off).

How to Buy a Refurbished Laptop

Buying refurbished is relatively straightforward, with retailers and manufacturers offering restored devices at attractive prices. Retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, and Walmart sell these laptops. Brands like Apple, Dell, and Lenovo also sell refurbished models in their own stores.

The key is to figure out what “refurbished” means on each of these websites, so you know exactly what you’re getting. First, refurbished can often mean a device that’s been tested to still be in good working order or restored to meet certain standards, along with a new warranty.

For example, this is an excerpt from Best Buy’s refurbished laptop policy: “A refurbished item has been inspected, repaired, and restored to like-new, clean, working condition and includes all parts and accessories. These are generally electronics that have been returned for some reason … Because they’ve been through a careful inspection process to ensure they’re working as good as new, the best-refurbished laptop is actually less likely to have defects or issues than one that comes from the factory … Most refurbished items are covered by the Best Buy Return & Exchange Promise and come with a minimum 90-day warranty.”

Policies differ between retailers, so it’s worth checking whether there is a thorough testing process and whether these devices are refurbished to a “good as new” standard (and if they come with a new warranty). It’s also worth checking the refund and return policies in your state or country to see what recourse you may have should you run into any issues outside of the warranty.
