12 Great Deals on Kindles, Tablets, and Coffee Makers

If you aren’t expecting a rabbit to drop off a basket full of goodies this weekend, you can still spoil yourself. Some of our favorite Amazon devices, like Kindle e-readers and Fire HD tablets, are on sale right now. (Target even discounted some Easter candy early, if you’re craving a Peep.) Check out our deals roundup from earlier this week too, as some favorite outdoor and fitness gear are still on sale.

Special offer for Gear readers: Get a 1-year subscription to WIRED for $5 ($25 off). This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com and our print magazine (if you’d like). Subscriptions help fund the work we do every day.

If you buy something using links in our stories, we may earn a commission. This helps support our journalism. Learn more.

    Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

    Kindle Paperwhite

The Paperwhite is our favorite Kindle (and favorite e-reader overall). The 6.8-inch screen gets brighter and is padded by slimmer bezels than in years past, and it’s a smidge faster too. It’s also easy to hold one-handed while lounging in the bath or pool (it’s waterproof!). This price is for 8 gigabytes of storage, but there is also a 16-gig version. The Signature edition is discounted to $140 ($50 off). That one has 32 gigs (great for audiobooks), warm lighting, and auto-adjusting brightness (8/10, WIRED Recommends).

The Kids Edition of the Paperwhite is also our Kindle pick for little ones. You get pretty much the same features as the standard model, including waterproofing. Because this is a kids’ model, you also get a year’s subscription to Amazon Kids+, a kid-friendly content library with parental controls, as well as a case, and a two-year no-questions-asked replacement guarantee if it breaks. You can choose between 8 and 16 gigabytes of storage. There is a cheaper kids’ model discounted to $80 ($40 off), but that one isn’t waterproof.

If you don’t need waterproofing, you can get the least expensive base-model Kindle for $80 right now. It has a smaller 6-inch screen and a smaller body all around—it’s 4.3 inches wide, compared to the Paperwhite’s 4.9 inches. It doesn’t have warm lighting and can’t auto-adjust the front light, but it does the essentials: You can read ebooks easily with minimal fuss.

    Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max

This is the sale price we see most often for this streaming device. It caters heavily to Amazon Prime TV content, but you can stream from all major services like Netflix and Hulu. If you already have the previous Fire TV Stick 4K, you don’t need to upgrade, but this Max version adds features like picture-in-picture for seeing who is ringing your video doorbell while you binge The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The 4K Max is also available at Target for the same price.

If you need a tablet for casual use and prefer not to spend a small fortune, the Fire HD 8 (6/10, WIRED Review) will satisfy. This 2022 model offers a faster processor than its predecessor, enough to operate most apps and games without fuss. The screen is still a little low-res and cramped, so take a look at the Fire HD 10 (see below) if you want more screen space.

Like Amazon’s version of the Kindle Kids, the kids’ edition has all the same features as the regular Fire HD 8 except it’s housed in a rugged case, comes with one year of Amazon Kids+, and has a two-year warranty.

This is our favorite of Amazon’s Fire tablets (7/10, WIRED Recommends). The Fire HD 10 has a larger, brighter screen than its siblings, so it’s good for watching movies on. If you’re already an Alexa fan, Amazon’s voice assistant is here too. However, if you want to work on this, don’t plan on using any Google apps, because they aren’t supported (there’s a workaround). The 32-gigabyte Fire HD 10 is also discounted from Target. If you can spend a bit more, the Fire HD 10 Plus is discounted to $120 ($60 off). It adds one more gigabyte of RAM (4 instead of 3) and wireless charging support.

    Google Pixel 6A smartphones

The Pixel 6A (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is our favorite Pixel for most people. Though this phone can reach $449 occasionally, it is frequently around $299. It has older camera hardware, but it still takes great pictures for the money. It’s plenty powerful to run almost any app and game, the AMOLED screen is really nice to look at, and it feels like it’s worth several hundred dollars more.

If you can spend a little bit more, the Pixel 7 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is one of the best values around. It’s not too big and has a slick 90-Hz AMOLED screen. The battery lasts a full day, and it snaps excellent photos with the main and ultrawide cameras. Read our Best Google Pixel Phones guide for more details.

    Lectrofan Sound Machine

    LectroFan Classic

This is our favorite sound machine if you want to fall asleep to basic noises like fans, or a spectrum of pink, brown, and white noise (there are no birds chirping here). It has a nice volume range and a 60-minute timer. The LectroFan is also small enough that it shouldn’t crowd tiny bedside tables.

Keurigs don’t make gourmet coffee, but if you aren’t picky or just want something for those mornings when you can’t be bothered to do more than insert a pod, this is a nice choice. It takes up very little room and comes in several nice colors, including a stunning hunter green.

Digital frames have come a long way since the early 2000s, and I love having one in my house. Nixplay makes great options. We prefer the 10.1-inch frame, but this 8-inch model looks just as nice as the others, and you can choose between a gold or silver trim.
