Silly Goose Singer Arrested for Impromptu Gig at Gas Station

Silly Goose are a nu-metal band who’ve gained internet fame for their pop-up performance, playing shows in unconventional places like Subway restaurants and gas stations.

It was during a performance at the latter, a BP station in Chicago, where frontman Jackson Foster was arrested for criminal trespassing despite claiming that he’d received permission from the station’s employees to hold the impromptu performance on top of a parked van. Unfortunately for Foster, that wasn’t good enough for the authorities, who appeared to enforce noise and permit bylaws, shutting down the show.

Posted Foster online [via The PRP]: “To anyone who is curious: I got charged with criminal trespassing (which is bs because the employees at the gas station gave us permission to play there) and I’ll be back in Chicago September 2nd to appear in court. I’ll post a full video explaining once I get home.”

Silly Goose were undeterred however, setting up shop across the street the night after the arrest to host a listening party for fans.

It was certainly a memorable stay in Chicago, as Silly Goose also got to perform at this year’s Lollapalooza festival after “crashing” the fest last year, bringing their nu-metal to gas stations and parking lots around Chicago’s downtown Loop.

The DIY ethos has appeared to pay off, as the group has been signed to Blue Grape Music and is set to release its new album Keys to the City on October 10th.

Check out footage of the gas station performance, Foster’s arrest, and the subsequent listening party below.
