Netflix and Sony have finalized a deal for KPop Demon Hunters 2, as first reported by Bloomberg. The sequel to the smash hit animated musical is set to arrive in 2029.
Directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans are set to return. The potential four-year gap between the movies is due to animated films taking far longer to develop than their live-action counterparts.
KPop Demon Hunters was developed by Sony Pictures Animation. Centering on the fictional K-pop girl group HUNTR/X, who lead a double life fighting demons that take the form of a rival boy group, Saja Boys, the film became Netflix’s most popular movie of all time.
