Fridge, the experimental rock band in which Kieran Hebden cut his teeth before launching Four Tet, are reissuing their fourth and best-regarded album, Happiness, for its 20th anniversary. Hebden has “restored, reconstructed, and remastered” the LP, according to a press release. The reissue comes out May 26 through Temporary Residence Ltd.
Hebden formed Fridge with Adem Ilhan (aka Adem) and Sam Jeffers in 1996, weaving between punk and dance before settling on a groove-led rock style in step with the likes of Tortoise and Mogwai. After expanding the sound to incorporate jazz, folk, and hip-hop elements on Happiness in 2003, the group took a backseat as Hebden made the rounds under his Four Tet alias. Fridge reformed in 2007 for The Sun, their latest album to date.
