Elmo’s Twitter Account Hacked with Antisemitic and Racist Posts

Over the weekend, a hacker briefly took control of Sesame Street Muppet Elmo’s official X/Twitter account and shared a series of now-deleted antisemitic and racist posts.

As reported by Mediaite, the vile posts called for violence against Jewish people. They also said President Donald Trump is a “child fucker” while referring to him as the “puppet” of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and called for Trump to release the files from the sex trafficking investigation of Jeffrey Epstein.

Thankfully, the issue appears to be resolved “Elmo’s X account was briefly compromised yesterday by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including antisemitic and racist posts,” a Sesame Workshop spokesperson shared in a statement. “The account has since been secured.”

A link to the Telegram channel of the person claiming responsibility for the hack remains in the bio of Elmo’s account.

Over the past few years, Elmo’s account has served as a beacon of positivity and mental health awareness. In January 2024, the fuzzy red puppet shared an innocent tweet, “checking in” on his 650,000 followers.

Though it resulted in a massive trauma dump, Elmo cheerfully followed up by saying he was “glad he asked” and emphasized the importance of checking in on friends.
