Doechii is ringing in her 26th birthday Wednesday (Aug. 14) with a special gift for her fans: a new mixtape titled Alligator Bites Never Heal.
The Florida rapper/singer revealed the cover art for the new project, which features her holding an albino alligator on her lap while she’s sitting in an antique wooden chair. “Happy Birthday to me,” she wrote in her Instagram caption. Alligator Bites Never Heal drops on Aug. 30 via Top Dawg Entertainment and Capitol Records.
The mixtape will arrive two years after her last project (and first major label release), the She / Her / Black B—h EP that featured collaborations with Rico Nasty (“Swamp B—hes”), Jst Ray (“B—hes Be”) and TDE labelmate SZA (“Persuasive”). “Persuasive” reached No. 33 on Billboard‘s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart in 2022. Doechii last dropped a mixtape in 2020 titled Oh the Places You’ll Go.
Over the last month, the Swamp Princess has been dropping “Swamp Sessions” every Friday where “I set a timer for an hour and I write a song. Whatever I get in an hour is what gets posted!” she wrote on Instagram in July. “I’m adding one scene visuals to scratch that creative director itch, enjoy.” Since then, she’s released five “Swamp Sessions,” titled “BULLFROG,” “CATFISH,” “NISSAN ALTIMA” (with special appearances from TDE labemates Isaiah Rashad, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock), “FLORIDA WATA” and “SUNDAYS BEST,” featuring Fana Hues. She released “NISSAN ALTIMA” as a single earlier this month.
