Death Cab for Cutie have paid tribute to Mimi Parker with a new cover of Low’s “The Plan.” The cover was recorded in the wake of Parker’s death in November, and arrives with a statement from Death Cab for Cutie frontman Benjamin Gibbard, who called Low “one of the most influential and important bands of [his] life.” Find the cover and the full statement below.
Death Cab for Cutie’s take on “The Plan” will appear as the closing entry on a new acoustic version of Asphalt Meadows. Also featured is an acoustic version of “Pepper,” which you can hear below, too. The new album, Asphalt Meadows Acoustic, is out March 10.
Death Cab for Cutie are currently on tour in support of Asphalt Meadows. Later this year, they’ll be touring with Benjamin Gibbard’s other band, the Postal Service.
