Prime Video‘s Carrie, based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, focuses on a sheltered girl who gains telekinetic powers. As the series keeps fans hooked, they are curious about whether there will be a new episode this week. So, why isn’t Carrie Episode 9 dropping this week?
Here is all you need to know about the potential new episodes of the supernatural horror series.
Why Carrie isn’t releasing a new episode or Part 2 this week
Carrie isn’t releasing a new episode or Part 2 this week because the series has ended.
Carrie has a total of 8 episodes, which were released on October 7, 2026. The show didn’t follow a weekly release format like many Prime Video shows. Moreover, it didn’t follow the trend of releasing episodes in two or three parts. Thus, there will be no Carrie episodes this week. Besides extra episodes, fans have been wondering about the show’s potential next season.
For the unaware, Prime Video’s Carrie deviated from Stephen King’s novel when it comes to the ending. In the novel, Carrie dies due to the knife wound given by her mother. However, the series shows Carrie’s mother getting killed by Adelaide while Carrie escapes with Emaline. Carrie finds a new world before her and smiles ominously. Showrunner Mike Flanagan told PEOPLE that the cliffhanger ending was “baked into [the series] from the start.”
He shared the twist was “one of the things that excited Stephen King about” the show. “We wanted very much to just try to focus on making it to that last frame of this season, in case it was a one-off season and we’d never return to this world again,” Flanagan continued. The showrunner added, “We wanted to serve that arc and send the story off right. But it was very much on my mind that there was so much potential for it to expand further, and we wanted to leave room for that too.”
Flangan’s statements have given fans hope for another season. Nevertheless, fans must wait for an official confirmation.
