Happy Gilmore 2 brings back the fun and familiar premise of 1996’s Happy Gilmore, with a few twists of its own, leaving fans curious about the ending, as well as what happens to Adam Sandler’s Happy and his family. So, does he manage to overcome his biggest challenge yet?
Without further ado, let’s delve into the Happy Gilmore 2 ending and find out the fate of the protagonist and his family.

Fate of Happy’s family in Happy Gilmore 2’s ending explained
After Happy Gilmore mistakenly kills his wife, Virginia, with a golf ball, he gives up the sport. Years later, he is living as an alcoholic father of five, while his children are also evidently struggling. Just like the premise of the first film, Happy once again turns to golf when he needs money for his family.
Happy’s daughter, Vienna (Sunny Sandler), dreams of enrolling at a Paris-based ballet academy, which requires $300,000. However, Happy has lost his grandmother’s house. He is now living in a problematic neighborhood with his daughter, while his four sons do odd jobs.
With the pressure of doing something for his family, Happy hesitantly picks up his golf club again. He slowly builds up his skills again, including his signature shot. He also sobers up and eventually participates in the traditional Tour Championship.
The sequel’s antagonist, Frank Manatee (Benny Safdie), the owner of Maxi Sports Drink, wants to start a Maxi Golf League. He wishes for Happy to join, but he refuses. Soon, it is announced that the traditional players will now be playing to qualify for an ultimate challenge in the Maxi Golf League.
Though Happy fails to qualify initially, he makes it when a player leaves the traditional group for the Maxi team. In the ultimate championship, he faces a physically modified Maxi team, as well as new challenges that are introduced to the game.
Ultimately, Happy reaches the finale of the contest and has to shoot from a revolving platform. Yet, he channels his signature move and manages to land the ball close to the hole. Eventually, Happy’s caddie, Oscar, falls to the ground and makes the ball enter the hole, winning him the game.
According to his deal with Frank, Happy Gilmore gets back his grandmother’s house. Meanwhile, Oscar gets his own restaurant, and Happy sends his daughter, Vienna, to Paris. Hence, the championship effectively saves Happy’s career and family.
Towards the end of Happy Gilmore 2, the titular protagonist sees his five children off at the airport as they go to Paris. He intends to meet them there when he goes there for the British Open. Thus, once again, Happy ends up saving his family from trouble and re-establishes his golfing career.
Happy Gilmore 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
