Who is in the Super Bowl Mandalorian and Grogu spot?
The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer offers some new footage of the titular two characters heading off on an adventure together across the galaxy. In addition to Pascal’s character and Grogu, the film also stars Sigourney Weaver, while The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White voices Rotta the Hutt, who is the son of Jabba the Hutt.
The synopsis for the movie reads, “The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.”
The Mandalorian and Grogu is directed by Jon Favreau, who created the original Disney+ Mandalorian series. Favreau is also known for directing 2003’s Elf, 2005’s Mathura: A Space Adventure, 2008’s Iron Man, 2010’s Iron Man 2, 2011’s Cowboys & Aliens, 2014’s Chef, 2016’s The Jungle Book, and 2019’s The Lion King.
The screenplay for the movie was co-written by Favreau and Dave Filoni. Both of them also produce the movie alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Ian Bryce.
There’s been some speculation about whether or not The Mandalorian series will continue after the movie. Favreau recently told Empire Magazine that they “were planning on doing a fourth season” and that he “still” has the scripts sitting on his desk; however, whether or not that’ll actually happen remains to be seen.
The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives on May 22, 2026, from Lucasfilm.
