Sydney Sweeney’s Nude Ad Backlash Gets a Hot Take From Sophie Cunnigham

Sydney Sweeney’s nude Novig ad has drawn plenty of criticism, and now Sophie Cunningham has given her take on the backlash. The WNBA star recently addressed the campaign on her No Hesitation podcast, questioning why women were particularly upset by Sweeney’s appearance in the gambling ad. While Cunningham admitted that she did not personally like the campaign, she also defended Sweeney’s decision to take part in it.

Sophie Cunnigham doesn’t get why girls are mad at Sydney Sweeney’s Novig ad

Sophie Cunningham has questioned the backlash surrounding Sydney Sweeney‘s nude Novig advertisement, saying she does not understand why women are upset by the campaign. The WNBA player discussed the ad during an episode of her No Hesitation podcast with Drew Hanlen, where she acknowledged that she did not particularly like the campaign while questioning the response it garnered.

Cunningham said, “I have so many takes, but just first of all, does she even gamble on sports? It’s just so unauthentic. Am I surprised of how she represented the brand? No. Like, that’s what she’s made her whole career off is. And hey, don’t get me wrong, I like her.”

The WNBA star added, “Like, everyone knows she is beautiful. She is hot. She clearly has my chest. She sticks to her guns, and she does her thing, and she’s her. So, like props to her. Do I like it? Like that particular ad. Not really. I think it’s like, ‘What are we doing?’ But again, I’m not surprised. Like that’s what that’s what she’s known for. So she’s going to do that. She’s making her money.”

She then questioned why women in particular had reacted negatively to the advertisement. Cunningham noted, “But why are girls mad? It is literally what she does. Why is anyone mad? It is a gambling ad. Men. Sports. Pretty much naked women. Like, of course that’s going to draw attention. Again, do I agree with it? Morally, I think it’s kind of weird, but, like, teach their own. Go do your thing, sis.”

The WNBA player also argued that she did not view Sweeney’s campaign as an attack on women competing in sports, noting, “I don’t think the ad was coming for women in sport.”
