E3 is dead (for this year, at least), but Geoff Keighley is ensuring that the summer will have some sort of centralized event with bunch of gaming news and reveals. And he has finally announced a date for what will likely be the biggest part his event, Summer Game Fest Live. This live showcase will premiere on Thursday, June 9 at 11 a.m. PT.

The show promising premieres and news galore will also air live in IMAX theaters across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. However, given the time difference, it might be a little late for those in the U.K. Tickets will go on sale on May 12 at 9 a.m. PT. Keighley has a connection to IMAX theaters since his parents, David Keighley and Patricia Keighley, are chief quality gurus at IMAX. Regardless, Geoff spoke highly of putting his show in IMAX theaters.
“Video games are the most powerful, immersive and spectacular form of entertainment in the world, so it’s only natural to bring them to fans in IMAX, the world’s most immersive cinema format,” said Geoff Keighley.

The big show will also be supplemented by Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition. Day of the Devs provides spotlights for indie games and used to be its own annual event in San Francisco before the pandemic. Last year’s show highlighted hits like Death’s Door, Last Stop, Axiom Verge 2, Toem, and more.
Summer Game Fest Live is three days before the Xbox event. Sony and Nintendo have yet to announce dates for their inevitable showcases.
