IFC Films has dropped the official Resurrection trailer for its upcoming psychological thriller starring Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters and on digital on August 5, followed by its Shudder debut in November.

The video, which you can check out below, features a woman whose seemingly perfect life gets disrupted by the return of an unwanted familiar face from her traumatic past.

Described as a jaw-dropping film, Resurrection is written and directed by Andrew Seman, based on an original screenplay that appeared on the 2019 Black List. It stars Rebecca Hall (Passing), Tim Roth (Rob Roy), Grace Kaufman (The Sky is Everywhere), Michael Esper, and Angela Wong Carbone.

“In the film, Margaret leads a successful and orderly life, perfectly balancing the demands of her busy career and single parenthood to her fiercely independent daughter Abbie,” reads the synopsis. “Everything is under control. But that careful balance is upended when an unwelcome shadow from her past, David returns, carrying with him the horrors of Margaret’s past. Battling her rising fear, Margaret must confront the monster she’s evaded for two decades who has come to conclude their unfinished business.”
