Netflix is bringing more Resident Evil movies for fans to enjoy, including the widely acclaimed animated installments. The streaming news comes ahead of the highly anticipated remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica.
Three animated Resident Evil movies are arriving on Netflix on September 2, 2026. These are Resident Evil: Damnation (2012), Resident Evil: Vendetta (2017), and Resident Evil: Death Island (2023). All three movies are highly acclaimed installments within the franchise, with Resident Evil: Damnation currently holding a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In addition to the animated movies, the live-action films Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Afterlife, and Resident Evil: Retribution have also arrived on Netflix on September 1. The movies star Milla Jovovich as Alice.
Meanwhile, fans are also waiting for Resident Evil Veronica, an upcoming survival horror game and a remake of the 2000 video game Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. The game is slated for a 2027 release for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X and Series S.
Resident Evil’s animated films bring familiar characters to new stories
Damnation, Vendetta, and Death Island are animated films that take place within the universe of the Resident Evil video games. All three films feature popular characters from the franchise. These include Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Rebecca Chambers, and more. However, the films present brand-new original storylines featuring these familiar names.
Damnation follows Kennedy, who investigates biological weapons used in a European civil war. Meanwhile, in Vendetta, Chris Redfield teams up with Kennedy and Rebecca Chambers to stop Glenn Arias from releasing a deadly virus in New York City.
Finally, Death Island sees Redfield and his team investigate a possible T-virus bioterrorism in San Francisco. A clue leads them to Alcatraz Island, where they face another deadly threat.
Meanwhile, another live-action Resident Evil movie is on the way. Directed by Zach Cregger, Resident Evil (2026) serves as the second reboot of the popular film series. It stars Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, Paul Walter Hauser, and Johnno Wilson. The movie arrives in theaters on September 18.
