Michael Keaton will be reprising the role of Vulture once again for a mystery Marvel project. Previously, Keaton debuted in the role as the antagonist in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017. The actor was more recently shown in the trailer for Morbius, providing a strong connection between the MCU and Sony’s Marvel universe. As it turns out, Keaton is now back at work shooting more scenes as the iconic supervillain.
On Tuesday night, Michael Keaton spoke about his involvement in Morbius on Jimmy Kimmel Live. He opened up on what it was like crossing over into a separate movie universe, and explains how confusing it was at first when the filmmakers tried to explain to him how the stories would connect. Apparently, the bewilderment on Keaton’s face showed.
“I shouldn’t say this, but when I did… these guys are so cool. I showed up on one of the [Marvel projects] when I played
Vulture
, which was really a fun character, I gotta say. They have to brief me, and I see it in their eyes, they’re going, ‘Uh, so you know, when you did blah blah, and then your character [Adrian] Toomes came in and he did that thing, remember, because earlier than Spider-Man?’ And I’m going, ‘Right,’ and I’m thinking, ‘I have no f**king clue.’ I have no idea who’s who or why or where or even where I am. And I see it in their eyes, and then they’re really cool about it, they go, ‘You don’t know what we’re talking about, do you?'”
Michael Keaton says that he’s a quick learner, so he was able to catch on pretty quickly. He then went on to reveal that he was preparing to shoot more scenes as Vulture, though he wouldn’t say what project this was for. Could this be for reshoots related to Morbius, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, or another Marvel project altogether? It’s hard to say, but in any case, more of Michael Keaton as Vulture is on the way in the Spider-Man universe.
“I’m shooting tomorrow. Yeah, man, some Vulture stuff.”
This is definitely good news for Marvel fans, as you can never really get too much of Michael Keaton. That’s something Warner Bros. and DC are betting on as well, as they’re bringing back the veteran actor to reprise another popular role. He will be back as his incarnation of Batman from the Tim Burton movies in Th Flash, a movie that similarly incorporates a multiverse into the storyline to bring in various versions of the same characters. A first look teaser gave us a small peek at Keaton’s return in that role.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released on Dec. 17, 2021, although there’s no indication at this time that Keaton will appear in that movie, though it’s definitely possible. He will definitely be seen as Vulture in Morbius which will follow with a theatrical release on Jan. 28, 2022. Fans can then anticipate Keaton’s return as Bruce Wayne when The Flash speeds into movie theaters on Nov. 4, 2022. This news comes to us from Jimmy Kimmel Live.
