Netflix’s smash hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters officially has its eyes set on a sequel, with a new report suggesting when the KPop Demon Hunters 2 release date window might be.
When and where will KPop Demon Hunters come out?
According to a new report from Bloomberg on the success of KPop Demon Hunters, a potential future date for the film has been noted. Bloomberg notes that, while Netflix continues to try and capitalize on the success of the film, they recently finalized a deal for a second movie with directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, as well as Sony Pictures, who developed the original film.
As for a release date, no specific date was mentioned, but Bloomberg notes that the film is set to arrive sometime in 2029. That might sound like a while away, but animated films do often take years to make, and with things likely still to iron out, it isn’t too shocking.
Originally released in 2025, KPop Demon Hunters was directed by Kang and Appelhans, and starred Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Yunjin Kim, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Lee Byung-hun. The film followed the story of a K-pop girl group, Huntr/x, that double as demon hunters who use their music to face off against their foes.
The film was a massive success upon its release. Since its release in June, KPop Demon Hunters has become the most-watched original title in Netflix history, and its soundtrack has also received Platinum certification from the RIAA.
