Absolute Batman’s version of the Joker is scarier than ever in a fresh new look.
Absolute Batman is the DC Comics series written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Nick Dragotta. The series, which launched in October 2024, is set in a different universe than the main DC continuity and reimagines the Dark Knight as a 24-year-old blue-collar civil engineer.
What does the Joker in Absolute Batman look like?
While a human-looking version of Joker has been previously seen and teased in Absolute Batman, the first look at the character’s full-on monstrous form was revealed last month. The design quickly received some strong reactions from fans, as many wondered how the Dark Knight would stand a chance going up against such a gargantuan and horrifying version of the Clown Prince of Crime.
Now, per DCU Updates on Twitter, some more images of Absolute Joker, done by Dragotta, have been revealed. View them below:
This version of the Joker will make his official debut in Absolute Batman #15, which arrives in December. The solicitation of the issue reads, “SCOTT SNYDER REUNITES WITH LEGENDARY ARTIST JOCK! Alfred reveals to Bruce the story of the man he’s been chasing for years. Enter: Joker! Scott Snyder and Jock reunite for an epic tale in the Absolute Universe!”
The departure from Joker’s most common design fits in well with other villains who have appeared in Absolute Batman so far. Absolute Killer Croc, for example, has a much larger physique compared to the standard version of the character, while Absolute Bane is an absolutely giant, towering figure who somehow manages to make the normal version of Bane look small. Other Absolute series have similarly been surprising fans with reimagined characters, as the first look at Zatanna’s new costume in Absolute Wonder Woman was just recently unveiled.
Absolute Batman #15 goes on sale on December 10, 2025, from DC Comics. The issue features art by Jock, who also provides a variant cover. Other variant covers come from Ben Oliver, Brian Bolland, and Sanford Greene.
