General Hospital shocked fans in the July 8 episode by revealing that Katelyn MacMullen’s Willow was behind baby Daisy’s mysterious disappearance.
After weeks of eerie incidents involving Michael and Sasha’s newborn, the truth finally came out — Willow, heartbroken over losing custody of her children, took desperate measures to make Michael understand her pain. Now, the actress reveals how she reacted to discovering the twist.
Katelyn MacMullen recalls her reaction on learning Willow is baby Daisy’s stalker
Katelyn MacMullen, who plays the usually composed Willow on General Hospital, opened up about discovering that her character was the one sneaking into the Quartermaine mansion to take baby Daisy.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, the actress recalled how she learned about the unexpected twist — not through a grand reveal, but from the script itself.
“I happened to catch them filming some scenes on the same set right before — where Sasha is in her room and she gets handed the wrong baby,” MacMullen said. “Someone switched the babies. This is crazy!” She continued, “And then like a week or two later, I get a script… Willow has a flashback where she’s picking up Daisy. So I found out in the script. I was like, ‘Oh! Willow’s doing it!’”
The actress admitted that while Willow’s actions are extreme, they stem from deep emotional trauma. After losing custody of Wiley and Amelia in a bitter legal battle, Willow spiraled into despair. Her decision to marry Drew, despite Michael’s warnings, only worsened the situation, leading to her actions with Daisy.
“Desperate times call for desperate measures,” MacMullen said. “One part of your brain is like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is insane.’ Then the other part is like, ‘I mean, I guess if you were desperate enough, you would! You would try to send a message.’”
MacMullen emphasized that Willow’s past losses and separations from her children have deeply affected her mental state. “I do think that her trauma is absolutely going to influence the way that she goes about doing things,” she explained. “It’ll be interesting to see how they may or may not even address that, because I think that’s just a really interesting human thing to explore.”
