As production begins on Dune: Part Two, Warner Bros. Pictures has finally unveiled the official synopsis for Denis Villeneuve’s highly-anticipated action sci-fi sequel. It teases Paul Atreides’ mission to seek revenge on those who betrayed his family, as well as a life-changing choice that he must make. The Timothée Chalamet-led movie will be filmed in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, and Italy.
“This follow-up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family,” reads the synopsis. “Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”

Dune: Part Two is once again being directed by Denis Villeneuve. The returning cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Stephen McKinley Henderson. Joining them is Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot, and Souheila Yacoub as Shishakli.
Last year, Dune went on to garner critical acclaim from fans and critics alike. Earlier this year it also racked up a whopping 10 Academy Award nominations. It won six of them, including Best Original Score, Best Sound, Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Visual Effects.

The sequel is scheduled to hit the theaters on November 17, 2023, pitting it against two high-profile films including the dystopian prequel The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and the fantasy comedy If starring John Krasinski and Ryan Reynolds.
