Wendy Stuart is an author, celebrity interviewer, model, filmmaker and along with If These Walls Could Talk she hosts TriVersity Talk, a weekly web series with featured guests discussing their lives, activism and pressing issues in the LGBTQ Community.
Tym Moss is a popular NYC singer, actor, and radio/tv host who recently starred in the hit indie film “JUNK” to critical acclaim.
A trailblazer since moving to New York City from Pittsburgh in 1975, she watched the rise of Dumbo when she first came to her favorite River Cafe decades ago. Initially arriving with her then-boyfriend, who became Blondie’s first drummer, Catherine quickly found her own niche when she could not just be the “drummer’s girlfriend” and started self expressing when she studied acting and dance, even stand up, forming a comedy troupe called The Nerve! Comedy helped her tackle the absurdity of corporate conformity and giving voice to the importance of the individual’s worth. Though initially rejected by Ford Models for her weight, Catherine’s persistence led to a successful modeling career in the mid-’80s when Ford signed her to their new Special Sizes (plus) division. She championed size acceptance, eventually becoming an editor at MODE magazine, where she created retail training programs like Shape Shopping with Figure&Fit. Catherine’s advocacy extended to her role as Image and Style Advisor for Divabetic, a charity supporting women with diabetes, and her creation of Runway the Real Way, promoting fashion diversity on the inclusive catwalk. Her personal life intertwined with her career when in 1992 she married Mark Gruenwald, Senior Executive Editor at Marvel Comics from 1978 to his untimely passing in 1996. Together, they bridged the comic and fashion worlds, which has since become the lifelong goal of Mark’s biggest fan, Daniel Hort, of Onomatopoeia Arts, producing a mashup concept that is best described as Fashion Week had a baby with Comic Con now in their fifth season named CosMODA: Cosplay Runway. With her love of sustainability and eco conscious philosophy, Catherine also rescued water logged comicbooks from a flood in a Bronx store launching Power Pieces: Heroic Adornment, an upcycled comic book accessories, in honor of Mark. Not only selling her creations, but she has created a Power PieceMaker program working with child service and foster care agencies, community centers and senior facilities and partnering with Comic Books 4 Justice and the Social Justice Network promoting Literacy, learning and liberation by introducing comic books to incarcerated individuals elevating the reading level from 4th grade to 12th grade level.
Her work continues to fuel her mission and purpose. Her journey has been winding but the direction is ever upward and uplifting others along the way.
