Lori Harvey Nails the Hip-Cutout Trend at Chanel’s Cruise Show

Lori Harvey was among the celebrities in attendance at the Chanel Cruise 2023 show this past weekend, which took place on the beach at the Faena Hotel in Miami. Not only did she share a slew of bold looks in the lead-up to the collection debut, but she also posted a series of Instagram Stories that showed garment bags of clothing, jewelry, and accessories from the Parisian fashion house — all of which the 25-year-old supermodel and entrepreneur was allowed to choose from when curating her look.

Seated front row on the sandy runway, Harvey flaunted a pink and black sequined bandeau top and bikini briefs that she styled with a black miniskirt, layered Chanel pearl necklaces, a white quilted shoulder bag, black sunglasses, and Mary Janes. The ensemble boasted all the hallmarks of a classic poolside look, albeit with a very luxe twist. Much like the cutout gown she sported the night prior, Harvey’s outfit was equal parts skin baring, youthful, and chic.

Harvey looked on as designer Virginie Viard presented a colorful Cruise 2023 line for the brand, which was initially revealed back in May on the boardwalk at the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel. Inspiration drew from Formula 1 racing, which showed through in coveralls, helmet-shaped bags, silk dresses printed with black-and-white checkered flags, and graphic race-car tees. The offering was a balance between sporty and ladylike, with boiler suits crafted from signature tweed, swimsuits topped with cardigan sweaters, and free-flowing silk slips with an effortless air about them.

The celebrities on the sidelines — including ambassadors Lily Rose Depp and Marion Cotillard — did not disappoint, with Depp in a baby-blue knit crop top and matching miniskirt and Cotillard in a logo polo dress and bike shorts. Later, they would celebrate at a party entertained by Nile Rodgers and longtime Chanel muse Pharrell Williams.

While at the time of the Cruise collection’s debut in Monaco the show was only a preview of things to come, the US presentation serves as more of a see-now-buy-now reminder, as select pieces begin to hit stores this month.

Ahead, see how the stars arrived with the ocean as their backdrop, then find a number of our favorite looks.
