What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Immortal Cells?
It came from a one-liner from my comedy series, Colt Harper: Esteemed Vampire Cat. He mentioned he ‘would hate to be thrown into the Immortal Cells.’ It was a line I forgot about until a family member mentioned it. They said for a one-liner, they were keen to know more about these immortal prisons. The story flashed before my eyes and next thing I knew, I was immersed in a brand new world!
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Immortal Cells, what would they be?
Yassss, best question EVER. “Start A War” by Klergy. It was streaming on a random playlist while I was writing and I thought, “wow, what a great theme song”.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I tend to write more than I read and I definitely don’t read much of the genre I write. I’m currently binging Black Crouch’s back catalogue, if that gives you an indication.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
We shouldn’t talk about this…it’s getting too long. I’m already cheating on several books by reading them at the same time. Don’t tell them.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
Any scene with massive character development. I love seeing how my characters will react to a situation and how they interact with one another. I always feel like they’re the ones controlling the story; not me.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I’ve recently had a baby, so all my writing habits have gone out the window. I used to procrastinate for an hour, find the right music, pop on my writing gloves, find the cat and write. Now, it’s: “the baby is asleep?! I have fifteen minutes to get this idea down! Go go go!”
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
If it makes you happy, then you succeeded already.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
One person’s villain is somebody else’s hero.
