What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Echoes in Snowfall?
I wanted to write a story about second chances, where you get to rewind and replay a moment to change the outcome. I’ve experienced many moments when it seemed like time lined up at exactly the right moment for something notable to happen. If time had lagged or gone too fast, the outcome would have been altered. In my Author’s Note, I share a personal story about this.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Echoes in Snowfall, what would they be?
If Echoes in Snowfall were made into a movie, these would be the songs:
– Opening: When I Am Through With You by The VLA
– Blake: bury a friend by Billie Eilish
– Naomi: Burning by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
– Score soundtrack: ominous tracks by Jóhann Jóhannsson, paired with Roger Deakins’ cinematography, of course!
– Closing: Future Starts Slow by The Kills
– Trailer music: Immigrant Song by Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, & Karen O
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Thrillers are my favorite to read and write. I’m super excited to expand my short story Ashen Lands into a post-apocalyptic thriller series.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
– Blood Vintage by J.F. Penn
– Until the Night by Giles Blunt
– Killing Eve: Resurrection by Luke Jennings
– Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The snowmobile chase scene was so much fun to write. It made me crave going snowmobiling again!
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I like to stay on the move when writing. After an hour or so of writing, I then walk or drive somewhere else and continue writing. It allows me to process what I wrote and think about what happens next.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Build credibility and make someone laugh or smile.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
After reading Echoes in Snowfall, I hope readers have a sense of fun and joy. Maybe they’ll even go on an adventure themselves, like a helicopter ride or snowmobiling!
