What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Blood Perfect: A Joe Turner Mystery?
I’m a criminal defense attorney. So, write what you know, I suppose.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Blood Perfect: A Joe Turner Mystery, what would they be?
“Right Now” by Van Halen. Joe Turner, the protagonist, in the end, has to step up and make a play.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Yes, I like mysteries. And I believe the more you read them, the better you can write them.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Louise Penny Latest, “A World of Curiosities” and a few by Lisa Jewel. Her books inspire some of my more off-kilter characters
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
I like the very last scene. I enjoy attempting to evoke emotions from the reader. I hope I was successful.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
Not really. I’m constantly amazed about how much I never tire of writing. I’ve heard some writers say they have to be in a certain mood. Not I. If I have time, I’m writing.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Nothing in the world is more powerful than a good story. – Tyrion Lannister
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
I’ll steal from the late Maya Angelou. People will not remember you by the words you say, or the deeds you do. People will remember you by the way you made them feel. So, I’d like their experience with the book to make them feel something. Anything.
