What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Vampire Billionaire’s Secret Baby?
I have written many kinds of paranormal books with shapeshifters, but never one starring a vampire. I thought it was time to try my hand at that—but had to make it more than just “I VANT YOUR BLOOD!” I wanted it to have twist and a trope—or two or three. Hence, the vampire is a billionaire who also has a secret baby—and the baby can walk in the daylight. Yeah, that’s the ticket! Add an evil head of a vampire coven who wants that ability, and voila! The story is born.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I love to read supernatural/paranormal stories, thrillers, and mysteries and that is what I write.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
I read a LOT of nonfiction for my book research (yes, even fantasies with talking cats require some facts!) For fiction, in my Kindle, I currently have the following authors (to name but a few): S.A. Cosby, E.A. Aymar, Chris Bauer, Ef Deal, Sharon Saracino, S.W. Kane, Hank Phillippi Ryan, and all the Cat’s Paw Cove books.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The ensemble cast scenes are the ones I enjoy writing. When I bring the quirky residents of Feline Fine Retirement Home together, anything can happen—and it does.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
My quirky writing habits are more like a ritual. Coffee, water, two snoring pugs in my office who are terrible watch dogs, and a plan: write the characters first, then the plot.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Work hard, play hard, rest, repeat–and don’t be a jerk.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
The takeaway is in my dedication: This book is dedicated to families who embrace their differences, love one another, and help their children to grow to their greatest potential.
