Interview with Davina Stone, Author of The Evie Effect

master mentalism tricks

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Evie Effect?

I’ve always wanted to write a rock star romance. So I combined outrageously behaved rock star, Byron with avant garde sculptress, Evie, threw them into a stately home in Cornwall to work on the zaniest project ever— and voila, out came The Evie Effect. It’s full of banter, heat, heart, and some truly poignant moments. I can guarantee you’ve never read a rock star romance quite like it!

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of The Evie Effect, what would they be?

Don’t Stop Me Now, by Queen.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I enjoy everything romance, especially (of course) steamy rom/coms. But I also read literary fiction and fantasy. Anything that stretches my imagination.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

My Killer Vacation, by Tessa Bailey and Husband Material by Alexis Hall.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

There’s a scene in the woods… You’ll know it when you get there.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I speak the lines of my character when I’m trying to work out a scene… often while I’m driving; it sure gets me the odd funny look at traffic lights!

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

In relation to my writing career, I think it’s the same as the theme song I mentioned above, “Don’t stop me now, because I’m having a good time…” Thanks Freddy Mercury!

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

I want them to remember that my books feel like a big warm hug as they close the last page!
