What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write A Captiva Wedding?
I wrote my first book in this series, Key Lime Garden Inn and knew that I had so much more to say about the Wheeler family. I knew from the start it would be a series, and the natural progression of the story dictated a wedding on the island. Once Trevor and Sarah met, there was instant chemistry. I also loved the fact that she couldn’t see herself as married or having children.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of A Captiva Wedding, what would they be?
The Very Thought of You – sung by Nat King Cole.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Women’s Fiction. I love to read about women who have overcome difficulties in their life. I’m always interested in how the little, seemingly inconsequential choices we make every day can impact a person’s future drastically. We sometimes make these decisions without thinking and that can be dangerous. I want the women in my stories to be relatable, and hopefully inspiring because that’s what I enjoy reading.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Golden Girl by Elin Hilderbrand.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
Sharon’s death.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I have a mini poodle who sits by my side as I write. He’ll tell you that he does all the hard work.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Do it afraid.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
That they must seek out the next book in this series. There is so much more I want to write about in this world. Stay tuned.
