Interview with A.M. Hargrove, Author of Tall, Dark, and Dreamy

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Tall, Dark, and Dreamy (A Billionaire Baines Family Novel)?

This book is part of my series, The Billionaire Baines family. It’s the second book, however, it’s a complete stand-alone. All my series are like this and the reason behind it is I am not a series reader. I love a series that doesn’t have to be read in order or those that contain zero cliff-hangers. Therefore, I enjoy writing these. They are actually companion novels. The reader can revisit all their favorite characters from previous novels, but it’s not necessary to know them. My inspiration for this one was I’d always wanted to write a novel with a dirty talking British guy and this was it!

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I LOVE, I mean LOVE mystery and suspense. It can come in any form—Romance, Paranormal, Thriller, Murder Mystery, and so on. I just love trying to figure out the bad guy/girl and solving the mystery.

Many of my books are sprinkled with suspense and some are downright romantic suspense.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Good grief, there are too many to name. But I’m currently reading an ARC of Harloe Rae’s latest novel, Mine For Yours. A few from my pile include the latest JR Ward releases—I haven’t gotten to them all. I also have The Quarry Girls by Jess Lourey, The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose, a few by Rebecca Zanetti, a couple of Dean Koontz’s and like I said, just too many!

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

There’s a scene where they go horseback riding. The female MC is an extremely accomplished rider while her counterpart isn’t. It’s a bit humorous. And to add to that, I hate riding horses. Haha!

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

My dog, Walter, is by my side or sitting on the cushion behind my head, acting like a parrot. He’s with me constantly so he’s my true writing companion.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Today is a present and tomorrow a gift. Live life to its fullest.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

The passion that explodes between the two main characters.
